The city government of Marikina received de-worming tablets donated by the Rotary Club (RCSFDM) and the Inner Wheel Club of the Philippines, San Francisco Del Monte Chapter during turnover rites held on September 19 in Marikina.
According to Marikina Mayor Del R. De Guzman, the donated medicine contributes greatly in the fight of eradicating worms from inside the body. Healthy children without worms are less prone to diseases.
Through the de-worming project of the RCSFDM, Marikina city has received 30,000 chewable tablets (Mebendazole, 500mg).
Mebendazole tablet is a candy-like medicine which is given to children aged 2 to 18 years old. A single tablet can remove threadworm, hookworm, roundworm, whipworm and tapeworm from a child’s body.
At the moment, the City Health Office is planning to organize programs in distributing the donated tablets to the barangays of the city. It is expected that the distribution of medicines will start on October until November of this year.
