Marikina breaks ground for CICL building

The city government of Marikina through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) will hold a ground-breaking ceremony for the Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) Building on October 18 at the Social Action Center building, Brgy. Sta. Elena.
The said ceremony signals the project realization which aims to provide proper facilities to children and residents needing care and guidance from the CSWDO.
The construction of the four-storey CICL building shall provide different facilities suited to children in conflict with the law, abandoned children, abandoned senior citizens, and mentally-challenged persons.
The said facilities include a covered court, bedrooms, comfort rooms, classrooms for livelihood trainings, and other facilities.
“The city government wants to help and give hope to children and residents who were misguided or have gone astray. Through the CICL building and the guidance of the CSWDO, they will be given a chance to start anew,” Marikina Mayor Del De Guzman said.
The budget used for the construction of the said building is from the PhP25M incentive received by the city government from the Seal of Good Housekeeping Award 2011 given by the Department of Interior and Local Government through its Local Government Support Fund .
After one week of the said ground-breaking ceremony, the six-month construction of the Children in Conflict with the Law building shall start.
Currently, the CSWDO transferred to Champagnat Street corner General Ordonez Street (formerly the World of Butterflies), Brgy. Marikina Heights. The office can be reached through numbers (02) 941-3747.
