Marikina kicks off yearly sapatos festival

With the success of Marikina City’s shoe festival in 2011 and 2012, the city government of Marikina will again stage the said celebration this year.
The Sapatos Festival 2013 themed “I Feel Good!” which runs from September 16 to December 30 features an array of exciting activities prior to its festival week on November 11-15. One of these activities is the opening of the first leg of the Mega Shoe Sale at the Eastwood City Walk Plaza on Saturday, September 14 at 6:00 p.m.
Gracing the occasion are guests Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Department of Trade and Industry National Capital Region Director  Ma. Grace Soller, and actor Dennis Trillo.
Marikina Mayor Del De Guzman who will lead the ceremonial rites invites everyone to join the festivity and support the local shoe industry.
“Marikina’s footwear products are known for durability, comfort and style. We bring them to your localities during the duration of the shoe festival, so we encourage everyone to avail of our products sold at very reasonable price,” De Guzman said.
Mega Shoe Sale will also be opened in Lucky Chinatown Mall (Sept 28-29), SM City Marikina (Oct. 19-20), and Sta. Lucia East Mall (Oct. 26-27). Metro-wide Shoe Caravan will also be opened from September 30 to November 8 at different Metro Manila cities and municipality.

Sapatos Festival 2013 will be formally opened on Monday, September 16, 8:00 a.m.with the inauguration of Patio Del Zapateros, a one-stop shoe shop located inside the city’s cultural zone (along J.P. Rizal Street, beside Shoe Museum and across Our Lady of the Abandoned Church). It sells genuine Marikina-made shoes at price 30% cheaper compared to counterparts sold in commercial establishments.
