The city government of Marikina is inviting the city’s taxpayers to pay their taxes earlier or on time, and avail of the 50% reduction on Real Property Tax of the current year (2015) by paying it in full from January 1 to March 31, 2015.
This is stated in City Ordinance No. 88, Series of 2010 that gives real property tax relief and recognizes the financial difficulties Marikenyos had encountered in the aftermath of typhoon “Ondoy” in 2009. The reduction took effect in 2010 and ends this year (2015).
“Our citizens needed ample time to fully recover from the destruction of a typhoon like Ondoy. With the help of this ordinance, our taxpayers can avail of the 50% reduction on Real Property Tax of the current year by paying it in full from January 1 to March 31, 2015. They can likewise enjoy a free cup of coffee and reading materials while our personnel do their best to facilitate transactions in no time,” said Marikina Mayor Del De Guzman.
Meanwhile, taxpayers settling their taxes quarterly can avail of a 10% discount.
Taxpayers can also enjoy a free carwash at the parking lot beside Freedom Park.
The schedule for Real Property Tax payment is from January 1 to March 31 for the 1st Quarter; April 1 to June 30 for the 2ndQuarter; July 1 to September 30 for the 3rd Quarter; and October 1 to December 31 for the 4th Quarter. The statement of account (SOA) can be obtained from the City Treasury Office (CTO) located at the ground floor of Marikina City Hall.
