Undas Traffic Rerouting Scheme

Undas 2015-1 Undas 2015-2In observance of the All Saints’ Day, the city government of Marikina will be implementing traffic re-routing scheme to prevent traffic congestion at major thoroughfares due to heavy volume of people that are expected to visit Loyola Memorial Park and other cemeteries in the city.

Starting 12:00 n.n. of October 30, the City Transportation Management and Development Office (CTMDO) will implement a one-way trafficscheme on the stretch of A. Bonifacio Avenue which will only allow vehicles going to Marikina City from Quezon City.

G. Puyat Street will be one-way going northbound while J. Cruz Street will be one-way going southbound. Lopez-Jaena will be used as two-way street for emergencies, government vehicles, and tricycles only.

Meanwhile, vehicles going to Quezon City from Marikina are advised to take Marcos Highway via Gil Fernando Ave. or Old J.P. Rizal Street. According to CTMDO, although the said one-way traffic scheme is expected to be lifted on November 1 at 12:00 n.n., it can still be further extended depending on the volume of people still at the cemeteries at the aforementioned date and time.

As Marikina Mayor Del De Guzman hopes for a peaceful and meaningful observance of the All Saints’ Day in Marikina, the Philippine National Police (PNP)-Marikina advices the public to refrain from bringing prohibited items such as liquor, pointed objects such as knives, playing cards or any object used in gambling, firearms, radio, and videoke/karaoke machines in the cemeteries.

In case of emergencies, several emergency assistance teams will be deployed by the city government at the Loyola Memorial Park and other cemeteries.
