The city government of Marikina lauds the representatives of Marikina City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MCDRRMO) – Rescue 161 for coveting the championship of the 2nd Manilathon Rescue Challenge which was recently held at the World Trade Center.

MCDRRMO-161 was declared champion in the Group Challenge Event after defeating 13 different groups which consisted of national agencies, local governments, and a volunteer group.

The team showcased their skills in rescuing a victim from a collapsed structure, and proper techniques in vehicle extrication.

MCDRRMO-Rescue 161 is comprised of Ronnie Lazana, Julius Hermogenes, Marvin Hermogenes, Christian Bernal, Ross Henry Magsanoc, Michael Angelo Ong, Darwin de Leon, Al Mikhail Banhi, and Jeremiah Bernardo who received cash prize, a trophy, and individual medals.

“More than the honor, we are grateful for the readiness of our rescue team to save lives in the event of any calamity or disaster. We hold regular training sessions not only for the MCDRRMO but also for personnel and volunteers in our barangays and communities,” Mayor Del De Guzman said.

The city government advises the motorists to take alternate routes as certain portion of McDonald’s Avenue from Jacamar St. to J. Chanyungco St. in Brgy. Sta. Elena will be closed on Friday, March 11, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 n.n. at the Marikina Central Parking (located in front of the Marikina Police Station) to give way to the celebration of the National Fire Prevention Month, the First Marikina Barangay Fire Olympics.
