A drug-free Marikina

Marikina Mayor Marcelino Teodoro leads random drugtest for Marikina City Government employees and officials Monday, August 1.

This is one of the top priorities set by Marikina City Mayor  Marcy Teodoro on his first term as the city’s chief executive officer; and he begins inside the City Hall — ensuring that all of the elected officials and its employees are drug-free.

Right after the flag-raising ceremony last Monday, August 1, one hundred forty-six (146) employees of the City Government of Marikina, including Mayor Teodoro and several members of the City Council, underwent a random drug testing at the Marikina City Hall. It was executed by the City Health Office (CHO).
“I advocate a drug-free Marikina, which is why those who are in the ranks were tested for drugs,” Teodoro said.
The city officials and the randomly-selected employees were instructed to give their respective urine samples to the health officers. The results from the CHO’s laboratory was released yesterday, August 3, and no one came in positive for illegal drugs.
According to Teodoro, the surprise, random drug-test shall continue to make sure that the city government is drug-free. This is also in support of the anti-drug campaign of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Consequently, the City Mayor warns those who will turn out positive. “If someone will turn out positive, it will be dealt with accordingly. We are exercising an abundance of caution when it comes to dealing with drug-related activities,” he said.
